Pearls – June’s Birthstone.

Pearls are the queen of gems and for centuries have been seen as  a symbol of purity, wisdom, beauty and wealth.

The main beauty of pearls lies in the fact that they glow and therefore reflect their beauty on the wearer. This has been recognised since the beginning of civilisation and their story is full of symbolism and romance. Pearls symbolise wisdom acquired through experience. They are believed to attract wealth and luck as well as offer protection. Known for their calming effect, pearls can balance one’s karma, strengthen relationships, and keep children safe. The pearl is also said to symbolise the purity, generosity, integrity, and loyalty of its wearer.

The Colour Meaning of the Pearl

Pearls come in different colours and each colour symbolises a different meaning.

The blue pearl was traditionally associated with love.

The brown pearl was worn for protection.

The pink pearl was thought to promote fame and success.

Black pearl was used to enhance wealth. This is the colour to wear if you want to feel rich and attract prosperity.

The white pearl was a symbol of beauty, purity and new beginnings. This is perfect for just about any day.

A pearl is a hard object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusc. The most valuable pearls occur spontaneously in the wild, but are extremely rare. These wild pearls are referred to as natural pearls. Cultured or farmed pearls from pearl oysters and freshwater mussels make up the majority of those currently sold.

We have a great range of pearls to suit all tastes.
