Caring for Your Jewellery
Caring for Your Pearls
Pearls are an organic gem, because of this they should be treated with extra care. Below are a few helpful tips to ensure your pearls remain looking at their best for longer.
- Store your pearls separately in the box or pouch provided.
- Do not drop pearls into handbags or drawers without first placing them into the box or pouch provided
- Try not to knock your pearls against sharp or hard surfaces
- After each wear wipe your pearls with a soft damp cloth to remove any build up of body oils or perspiration
- Occasionally rinse your pearls in warm water using a mild pure soap – NOT DETERGENT. Rinse and pat dry thoroughly before storing
- Restring every one to two years to ensure the thread does not deteriorate.
- “Last on, first off” – always avoid contact with perfumes and sprays where possible.
Caring for Your Gold and Platinum
Over time a build up of oils and dirt can cause an item of jewellery to look tired or dull. Often all they need to bring them back to life is a clean.
There are many different ways to clean gold and platinum. For a highly polished finish and to remove any surface scratches feel free to pop your items in to us to do a thorough clean and polish. We also offer rhodium plating for white gold jewellery.
Alternatively if you can clean them yourself using specially formulated products.
For items of gold simply rubbing them with a gold polishing cloth can lift dirt and brighten their appearance, the cloth is impregnated with a specialised cleaner and anti tarnish agent to make it ideal for cleaning gold jewellery.
Or if you want to buy a cloth suitable for use on both gold and platinum we offer a micro fibre jewellery polishing cloth. This is a multi-purpose soft cloth made from high quality micro fibres ideal for cleaning all delicate surfaces.
For the more intricate items such as chains and rings, we offer a liquid cleaner called Jewel Sparkle. You simple pop the items into the container, agitate for 1-2 minutes and rinse clean with water, leaving you with bright and sparkly jewellery once again. For the more stubborn areas of dirt a small brush is provided. Porous stones such as emeralds, turquoise or pearls should not come into contact with this liquid.

For the more intricate items such as chains and rings, we offer a liquid cleaner called Silver Sparkle. You simple pop the items into the container, agitate for 1-2 minutes and rinse clean with water, leaving you with bright and sparkly jewellery once again. For the more stubborn areas of dirt a small brush is provided. Due to the anti tarnish agent this product is only suitable for silver and should not come into contact with any other metals and should not be used on items with porous stones such as emeralds, turquoise or pearls.
For larger items of silver we offer a product called silver foam. By working a small amount of the product into a damp sponge and rubbing the silver any dirt and tarnish will be lifted leaving a bright and clean surface underneath.
